Chloë Insight [Interview & Behind the Scenes]

What we love about Chloë Insight is her contagious smile and her beautiful spirit. She has a positive voice and is a great influence on her followers and friends. A few weeks back we had the joy of shooting with her at Le Comptoir General and decided to have a candid chat with her.

But first, go check the photos – they are stunning.

Could you present yourself and give us a little bit of your background?

At 18 I left Burkina-Faso, where my family lives, to come and study in France. I studied at a Business school and did some internships; I was a consultant for luxury brands and some designer houses in Paris. One of the internships ended up becoming a permanent position. I was so young at the time that
I remember looking at the HR director thinking "are you sure you're hiring the right person?" Aha. Crazy. They believed in me more than I did in myself. So here I was, 23, taking on an important position for a fashion house in Paris.
I left this job a year ago because I wanted to take a gap year and just think about what I really wanted to do with my life. During this time an agency called me – I had been blogging for a year already – and they wanted me to sign with them. So, that's what I did and that's how the journey started.

What is the best advice anyone has ever given you?

Don't compare yourself to other people. They are not you.
Be thankful for your present.

In an industry that can be seen as superficial, how do you think you're making a difference?

It isn't really easy to work in a world like this one. Whether you want it or not you are influenced because we all want to belong. I try to take a step back: is it the real me or am I just doing it for the likes and the comments because it's a business in the end. Where do I stand? Do I do it for the same reason as other people or do I have my own? That's where I think I'm different; in what I say and do. I go against the flow. Especially in the Parisian blogosphere. Today, someone sent me a text saying that. And that's what I do, I'm gonna talk about self confidence, my values and my faith, whether in my Instagram Stories or my posts.

My agency tries to make me go forward and sometimes they ask me to check what other bloggers do. But I'm not interested in that. I think that what people like to see is really my personality and values above my physical apparence. And yes, I post photos of myself. Yes, I'm in the pictures and yes, it's my Instagram account so there are almost only photos of myself. But I think people know that there is more to it than just the girl with curly hair who likes fashion. There is a spirit and there are values behind it. There are things to say and a story to be told. And above everything there is a vision.

I'm so thankful for what I'm able to do today. I do what I love: creating creative content and being able to reach people.

In your everyday, what's your vision and your ultimate goal?

At the beginning I was blogging without really thinking about it; I liked doing it and that was it. But with time I realised that there was more to it, a greater calling awaits me. My goal is not to be a blogger my whole life. We're all called to influence our world in a positive way. We live for ourselves but I'm ultimately convinced that we also love to bless others. We receive to give and by giving we can truly be happy. Otherwise what is the point in gathering and owning goods, wisdom and keep it for yourself? That's a way of seeing life directly linked to my faith.
What I want is to use a greater medium than my blog and maybe direct myself more towards video. I recently worked with TV channels and let me tell you: it felt both right and challenging. Weird, hey? It was new. But I felt at the right place. I'm revealing so many things about the future for Chloë Insight right there! Ha!

To be honest, I don't know what tomorrow will be like nor how my job is going to evolve... but do I really need to know that? There is a season for everything, what you need to do is make sure you're moving forward. It's easier to change path if you moving, not if you stop.

We would like to finish by thanking Le Comptoir Générale for the amazing location, you guys should visit it sometime!
